Peaches and Pomegranates. Plaster & fibreglass painted in acrylics

The two torsos (above) are painted in the 'famille rose Qing dynasty style' & taken from Chinese ceramic images of fruits & flowers. The voluptuous torso (top left) seemed to lend itself perfectly to be painted with the elaborate style of Qing dynasty ripe peaches. The bra is painted in cloisonné style with turquoises, gold & metallic edging. (Above right) torso with pomegranates and gourds, symbolism of abundance longevity & fertility. The image of the magpie pecking at the pomegranate seeds seemed a little eerie especially as this piece was exhibited & sold raising money for a breast cancer charity show.

Cheong sams,

Marilyn style Barbie rising out of
a blue & white ming style plate

This was commissioned by Mattel who wanted a large sized Barbie in their reception area in HK. This was a cast from a 3ft high Barbie doll then the hair & clothes sculpted in clay & made to look as if she is rising out of the plate. The Feng Shui master was consulted as the original design was a dragon background but it was thought Barbie & floral designs were more harmonious in a reception area.
